If you or your children are enrolled in Medicaid, you will want to receive all updates from the state about what’s happening with your health coverage and if you are still eligible for Medicaid. It is very important to update your contact information on YourTexasBenefits.com or the YTB app so you can receive all notices. Choosing to receive electronic notifications will help make sure you don’t miss important updates.

How to create a YourTexasBenefits (YTB) account

The easiest way to check the status of your Medicaid case and submit information or documents for your application or renewal is through a YourTexasBenefits account.

Report changes

The state needs updated information about you and your family to determine if you still qualify for Medicaid. It is important to report any changes to your phone number, address, email, job, household income, and the number of people in your family.

How to opt-in to receive text messages

To receive alerts about changes to your Medicaid case:

  1. Log in to your account on YourTexasBenefits.com
  2. Click ‘Manage’
  3. Click ‘Message Center’
  4. Click ‘Alert Settings’

You can select the type of alerts you would like to receive for your case (i.e., text or email). After you sign up for alerts, you must confirm your contact information. Within 48 hours, you will receive a code by email or text that you must enter on the ‘Email and phone settings’ page to confirm your contact information.

To confirm your contact information and your alert settings:

  1. Log in to your YourTexasBenefits.com account
  2. Click ‘Manage’
  3. Click ‘Message Center’
  4. Go to ‘Email and phone settings’
  5. Type your code next to the correct email or phone number
  6. Click ‘Confirm’

Your code expires 10 days after it is sent. If you need a new code, re-enter your contact information to receive a new one.

How to link your YTB account to your Medicaid account

To see updates to your Medicaid case through your YourTexasBenefits account, you must link the two accounts. You must confirm your identity and then add your Medicaid case to your YTB account.

  1. To confirm your identity: Select ‘Manage,’ and under “Confirm your identity,” select ‘Confirm.’
  2. To add your case to your Medicaid account, select ‘Manage’ and follow the instructions under ‘Add your case.’

How to reset your YTB password

If you can’t remember your YTB password, you can reset it.

  1. Click ‘Log In’ at the top of the YourTexasBenefits.com webpage
  2. Click ‘Forgot password?’
  3. Enter your user name
  4. Answer the security questions you created when setting up your YourTexasBenefits account

If you answer your security questions correctly, you can create a new password.

If you can’t answer the security questions correctly, call 2-1-1 or 1-877-541-7905 for assistance. After you choose a language, press 2.
